James 1:22
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

Observation/Application: This morning I had a proud moment as a father. I dropped my daughter off at school to participate at “See You At The Pole” It’s a national event where students gather to pray for their teachers, and the upcoming school year.  She was one of three students and one teacher joined in.  I was proud not because she went but because she chose to go all on her own.  As I watched I prayed that her commitment would grow so that all would know that she is a doer of God’s Word.  It seems to me that to do we first have to be.  I have heard of people who try and separate the two but I don’t see how we can.  I have to BE in God’s Word if I want to DO what it says.  To put it in the negative, I can’t DO if I’m not BEING who God created me to be.  Where we can get stuck is that we think if we hear the word that qualifies us as Being and Doing.  Being and Doing is not just a Sunday thing. It’s a life thing and it begins with a relationship with Jesus.  So let’s not deceive ourselves but instead let’s BE and DO!

Prayer: Lord if I am deceiving myself in anyway I pray you would bring
that to the light!
