James 5:13
Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.

Observation/Application: I find the first part easy. I have no problem praying when I am in trouble or there is a huge need. One of my kids is sick. I’m prayin. The car breaks down and financially I’m strapped.I’m prayin. Roslyn and I are at odds with each other. I’m prayin. What is difficult for me is singing songs of praise when I’m happy. I hate to admit this but when things are going my way I can tend to forget about Jesus. Why is this? I think it’s because I get wrapped up into myself. James says LET HIM SING SONGS OF PRAISE! Not only is James talking about praise from my lips but also in the attitude of how I live. I have found that praise is not only my way to glorify Jesus but also a way to replenish my soul. I encourage you to take just 10 minutes today and write out and cry out praise to your Lord and Savior.

Prayer: Lord how lame it is for me to come to you only in times of trouble. May I come to you in time of joy, sorrow, peace and turmoil and may my lips speak of praise for the purpose of glorifying your name.

Blessings,

Steve
