Psalm 63:1 "O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirst for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water."Observation/Application: This is a great metaphore David uses to describe his longing for God. He is in the desert where it is hot and dry and the Holy Spirit touches him. “You know David just as you and your men seek water you need to seek me as well!” The word that sticks out to me is the “earnestly” Do I honestly seek God? We can seek him and go through the motion and rituals but completely miss the earnestly part. For today I encourage you to meditate on this word and ask yourself what needs to change in your life to earnestly seek Jesus. Maybe it is an attitude, or a pattern in you life. Whatever it is I pray that God would reveal it to us today.
Prayer: Father, thank you that you are our God and that we can earnestly seek you. Lord please show me the stuff/junk in my life that prevent me from earnestly seeking you. Amen
