Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.Observation/Application: Have you ever sought revenge only to be dissatisfied in the end? When revenge is taken there is something that does not quite work. That satisfied feeling of justice doesn’t happen. Why? Paul gives us the answer. The Lord is the only one who can bring true righteousness. He is the only one whose justice can truly work. We had a favorite saying when I was a kid, "I’m rubber your glue everything bounces off me and sticks to you.” So when the urge and even the opportunity arises to administer revenge let’s be like David when he had the opportunity to kill Saul. Let’s let it bounce off us, show love, and move on. God will do the rest.
Prayer: Father, sometimes the urge to take revenge is so strong. Give us your strength to allow you to administer your grace and righteousness, and discipline in your way and in your timing.
Blessings,
Steve
